New Year's Eve is fun when you plan an evening at home with the kids. Here are some great ideas to make your bash a memorable event.
While all adult parties are fun, you just can’t beat staying at home and celebrating New Year’s with your kids. Kids want to ring in the New Year’s too, and instead of paying an expensive sitter or putting them to bed early, plan a fun evening for the whole family. Here are some ideas for planning a relaxing, yet entertaining New Year’s Eve party for the whole family. Decorate the HouseYou just can’t celebrate New Year’s Eve properly without at least a few decorations. Put up some gold and black streamers and hang up a banner that welcomes the New Year. Also, think about buying fun party hats and leis for the kids to wear during the evening. Make sure you take plenty of pictures because you will want to add them to your scrapbook. Plan Plenty of ActivitiesIf your kids are older and can stay up until midnight, then it is time to plan some great activities that will keep them awake. Kids love to sing on karaoke and if you have a machine, you can find many CDs with wide assortment of music. After they have gotten tired of singing, have everyone put on their pajamas and snuggle up on the couch for a movie marathon. Another good activity that you can do to keep your kids busy is to write thank you cards for Christmas presents. As they are watching TV or hanging out, have them decorate some handmade cards to send out to friends and relatives. Games are also great for New Year’s Eve. Try some games you may have never played before. There are many new games that the whole family can play such as newer editions of Trivial Pursuit and Cranium. You can also make your own trivia game by having each family member write down 10 or 20 questions with multiple choice answers about events that have happened to them or the family throughout the year. This is a great way to reminisce about the year that has just passed. Get Plenty of SnacksWhen the kids stay up late, you need to have plenty of snacks on hand. Pizza is a good choice. Finger foods such as chips and dips, mini pizzas, nachos and fruits are also great. Go to your local party supply store and stock up on plastic wine glasses and let the kids drink white grape juice or ginger ale as the clock strikes twelve. Ring in the New YearYou might also want to provide plenty of goodies that the kids can take outside to ring in the New Year. Fill small party bags with confetti, silly string, glow sticks, party horns and other noisemakers. When it is time to ring in the New Year, have the kids gather outside and let them make noise and celebrate in style. There are many fun ways to celebrate the New Years in the safety of your own home and with your kids. Use some of these suggestions this New Year’s Eve.
