Christmas Garland Limbo
It's limbo time! With just a few feet of holiday garland, it's easy to create a fun and festive limbo pole for holiday gatherings. Set the mood with Christmas music and watch kids have a ball seeing how low they can go.
Supplies Needed:
Holiday garland, about two feet
Christmas CD
CD player
Directions:
Pop a holiday CD in the CD player to set the mood.
Appoint two kids to hold the "limbo pole."
Have each kid hold onto an end of the Christmas garland and stand adjacent to one another, pulling the garland taut to create the limbo pole.
Time to limbo! Have kids form a line and take turns seeing how low they can go. Start out the limbo activity by holding the limbo "pole" at arms length. Continue to lower the limbo "pole" a notch after each kid has had a chance to try and shimmy underneath.
Tree Trimming Relay
It’s no secret that kids love decorating the Christmas tree. Turn a holiday passion into a fun party activity with the tree trimming relay. Kids will get a kick out of using tinsel, garland and ornaments to decorate one of their fellow playmates just like a spectacular Christmas tree. This unique holiday activity is guaranteed to spruce up any children's Christmas party.
Supplies Needed:
Tinsel
Garland
Non-breakable Christmas ornaments
Ornament hooks
Directions:
Divide kids up into even teams. No more than four kids to a team works best. At least two teams of two are needed in order to participate in this holiday activity. Don’t worry if there are an uneven amount of participants either. It won’t make a difference if the teams are slightly uneven.
Supply each team with an equal amount of tinsel, garland, ornaments and ornament hooks.
Have each team choose a kid to be the tree.
Once each team has designated a “tree,” give them approximately five minutes to decorate their human tree with the supplies provided.
Time’s up! Time to pick a winner. Choose the winning team based on whose “tree” is not only the most creatively decorated, but closest to being completely decorated.
Award the winning team with a special prize,
What's in Santa's Stocking Game
Kids can’t resist shaking Christmas packages to try and discover what’s inside when mom isn’t looking. With this Christmas party activity, kids can touch and shake the presents all they want. Kids will literally guess what’s in Santa’s stocking as they examine wrapped presents all with a Christmas theme. Afterwards, they’ll unwrap the gifts and see if they were successful in determining what’s in Santa’s stocking.
Supplies Needed:
A Christmas stocking
Wrapping paper
Scissors
Scotch Tape
Paper
Pens
Candy Cane
Cookie cutter
Christmas ornament
Tinsel
Small string of Christmas lights
Taper candle
Baby Jesus figurine
Small snowman figurine
Small Christmas tree figurine
Directions:
Wrap items seven through 15 in wrapping paper.
Give each of the participants a pen and piece of paper.
Instruct kids to sit in a circle. Explain to them that there is a “present” in Santa’s stocking and that each one of them will get 10 seconds to touch the present and try to guess what it is. Give them a hint, and let the kids know that all the presents are related to Christmas.
Put the first wrapped item into the stocking and hand it to one of the kids. Have the kid stick his/her hand inside the stocking and touch the present for no more than 10 seconds.
Have the child write down on the piece of paper what he/she thinks the present is.
Pass the stocking to the next participant and so on, until each kid has the opportunity to play.
Repeat steps four through six for each present.
Choose a kid to open present number one and reveal what's inside. Repeat until each present has been opened.
Tally up the kids’ scores, and award the player with the most right a small prize.
