Trick-or-treaters will love these healthier, non-candy alternatives to traditionally sugary Halloween treats!

Halloween trick-or-treating is a favorite annual activity of many kids. However a large number of parents are concerned about the amount of candy their children consume. This Halloween, consider passing out healthier, non-candy alternatives instead of sweets. There are many snacks that make perfect alternatives to candy bars and other sugary treats!

Stay Away From Handing Out Produce

While the apple is often associated with non-candy Halloween treats, passing out fruit to neighborhood children may not be the best option. This is due to safety issues with apples and other produce.

Unfortunately, there have been many highly-publicized incidents of malicious people hiding razor blades in Halloween apples or injecting them with poisonous substances. Because of these incidents, most parents are wary of allowing their children to consume any such items received while trick-or-treating, and they are usually thrown away.

Animal Crackers are a Healthier Alternative to Candy

Animal Crackers are a classic snack that children love to eat. They are also much healthier than chocolate bars or Skittles! During the Halloween season, many animal cracker manufacturers sell bags of small packets, which are ideal for putting in Halloween treat bags.

Popcorn is Another Non-Candy Halloween Treat

Popcorn is another classic snack that is popular with children. While full-sized bags of microwave popcorn may be a little much for a Halloween treat, there are also many companies that offer smaller, single-serving bags. Many are even decorated in a Halloween theme, making them ideal for passing out to trick-or-treaters.

Granola Bars are an Alternative to Candy Bars

Granola bars are a great alternative to candy bars. They come in a wide variety of flavors, including kid-friendly options like chocolate chip and peanut butter. Look for sales on granola bars, or price breaks on boxes containing larger quantities.

Give Away School Supplies for Halloween

Aside from edibles, there are many other things that can be put into Halloween treat bags. One idea for truly useful non-candy Halloween treats is school supplies. Halloween-themed pencils, pens, and erasers are both fun and functional. These type of items can usually be found at dollar stores, making them economical choices as well.

Stickers as Halloween Treats

Kids love stickers. They are easy to find cheaply in large quantities as well. Some stores carry large rolls of Halloween stickers that are perforated for easy separation into individual stickers. These rolls can also be found online at party supply stores. Larger sheets of Halloween stickers can also be cut into smaller portions for tucking into Halloween treat bags.

There are many options available for assembling candy-free Halloween treat bags. With a little brainstorming and creativity, it is easy to put together a selection of non-candy items that will not be disappointing!
