The story ends by Santa asking Rudolph to pull his sleigh on Christmas Eve because this shiny red nose will help Santa see through the fog. The moral of the story is that Rudolph's nose is a gift, not a fault.
History of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" Christmas Carol
According to Christmas-Lyrics.org, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" started out as a poem created by Robert May, as a poem that could be given away to children by the Santa Claus at the Department stores at Christmas time. Robert May had a natural writing talent as he was working as an advertising executive at the time. The poem was created to appeal specifically to children. The poem was a success as about 2.5 million copies were given away that first year.
In 1949, the poem was later adapted into a song which was composed by Johnny Marks and recorded by Gene Autry. Suffice to say, the song was a huge success. It was later adapted into a Rankin/Bass film production called Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer in 1964, which was another huge success. It's still enjoyed and cherished by families today.
